1. Castell de Sant Marçal — Cerdanyola del Vallès
A castle with eight centuries of history, twenty minutes from Barcelona. The gardens carry enough presence that a ceremony here needs very little decoration: the space speaks for itself. Its versatility is genuine, with interior and exterior spaces that can be configured in very different ways depending on the tone of each wedding. A renovation by internationally acclaimed interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán has added a contemporary layer that sits well alongside the original architecture. It has a solid indoor backup plan, generous parking, and capacity for large guest lists. A space that does not intimidate, but does impress.
2. Castell de Peralada — Alt Empordà
Peralada is more than a castle: it is a complete resort in the heart of the Empordà, a few kilometres from the Costa Brava. A five-star hotel with rooms available for the couple and their guests, a Michelin-starred restaurant by chef Paco Pérez, a private winery with tastings, a WineSpa, a golf course, and a casino. For couples who want to offer their guests a full multi-day experience, with group dinners, cultural visits, and time to explore the region, Peralada resolves everything within a single setting. Different setup configurations are available depending on the budget, which makes it adaptable without losing coherence. 3. Bell Recó — Argentona, Maresme
A luxurious mid-twentieth-century Catalan estate in Argentona, with more than 5,000 square metres of gardens laid out across three levels: ponds, fountains, century-old eucalyptus trees. The architecture is singular and of considerable artistic value; the main façade alone functions as a scenic backdrop. Logistics are one of its strongest points, with easy access, ample parking, and interior spaces that serve as a natural backup plan. Thirty minutes from Barcelona, with generous capacity and a visual presence that few estates can match.
4. El Convent de Blanes — Blanes, Costa Brava
A sixteenth-century Capuchin convent on the Santa Anna headland, at the exact point where the Costa Brava begins. The sea views are among the widest of any venue in the region, spanning 180 degrees over the Mediterranean, the port of Blanes, and the Marimurtra botanical garden. The main hall, with stone walls and ceilings eight metres high, has a scale that genuinely surprises. Catering is handled by the team of Michelin-starred chef Nandu Jubany. Vehicle access is not the most straightforward, but with a shuttle service it runs without friction, and a solid backup plan is in place for any weather. 5. Casa Santa Clotilde — Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava
Designed in 1919 by the Marquis of Roviralta, with direct influence from the Italian Renaissance gardens of Villa d’Este in Tivoli. The terraced gardens descend towards the sea with precise geometry: cypresses, neoclassical sculptures, stone pathways. Very few weddings take place here each year, which makes the exclusivity genuine. The venue accommodates large guest lists while maintaining a sense of intimacy that larger spaces rarely achieve. A space that was not built for events: it was built to be contemplated. That distinction is felt.
6. Masia Egara — Terrassa
A sixteenth-century Catalan farmhouse surrounded by 300 hectares of forest and vineyards, 25 kilometres from Barcelona, with easy access and ample parking. The gardens were designed by the school of Rubió i Tudurí and are considered among the best-preserved private gardens in Catalonia. The interior holds furniture and artwork spanning from the sixteenth century to contemporary pieces. Only one event takes place per day, guaranteeing full privacy and personalised attention. Both outdoor and indoor spaces allow for ceremonies, dining, and a solid backup plan in case of rain, with capacity for large celebrations.
7. Mas Cabanyes — Argentona, Maresme
A Renaissance farmhouse listed as a national monument, in Argentona, with more than one hundred hectares of land at the foot of the Coastal Range. Five centuries of history held together by a restoration that has not sacrificed authenticity. The gardens, converted stables, and threshing floor form a collection of spaces that allow weddings to unfold with their own rhythm, with each moment in a different setting. A covered indoor option is available as a backup plan. Ten minutes from the sea and thirty from Barcelona, with ample parking and easy access. A venue that combines scale with intimacy in a way that feels natural.
8. El Molí de la Torre — El Far de l’Empordà, Costa Brava
A nineteenth-century flour mill converted into an event space, listed in the Architectural Heritage Inventory of Catalonia. What many do not know: Salvador Dalí spent time here as a child and described it as “a magical place, made expressly for the continuation of my dreaming and waking fantasies.” Some of his engravings are still visible on the walls. The exterior arches allow for outdoor dinners beneath the Empordà sky with a setting that needs no intervention. The gardens are carefully maintained, access is comfortable, and the venue holds a large number of guests. Located near Figueres, in the heart of the Costa Brava.
9. Hostal La Gavina — S’Agaró, Costa Brava
The only Grand Luxe five-star resort in Catalonia, set on a small peninsula between two sandy bays in S’Agaró. Rooms, reception halls, and terraces open directly onto the Mediterranean. A 1913 Modernista flour mill, listed by the Generalitat de Catalunya, in the heart of the Alt Empordà. The estate covers more than 130 hectares with two natural lakes, gardens, woodland, and a main building with ten suites. The Masos Can Sot, within the same property, offer accommodation for up to fifty additional guests in a single cluster, with a private pool, which makes them ideal for pre and post-wedding gatherings. Ceremony by the lake, dinner under the Empordà sky, breakfast the following morning without leaving the estate: a full multi-day experience contained within a single space. 11. Can Mora de Dalt — Sant Vicenç de Montalt, Maresme
A fifteenth-century family farmhouse converted into a boutique hotel, in Sant Vicenç de Montalt, with sea views and less than one hour from Barcelona. Eleven rooms accommodate the closest guests, and different event spaces within the property allow for a full celebration without leaving the estate. A 1913 villa designed by Catalan architect Fonts i Gumà, protected as a local heritage landmark, in a seafront position in Vilanova i la Geltrú, fifty minutes from Barcelona and fifteen from Sitges. The Mediterranean gardens were designed specifically to preserve sea views from every point on the estate. Ceremony at the sea-facing terrace, cocktail in the olive courtyard, dinner with the sound of the Mediterranean in the background. Eight en-suite bedrooms for the couple and their closest guests.
