Sunflowers & Celebration: Julia & Dani´s Garden Wedding at La Farinera
On 7th September 2024, Julia and Dani were married in Spain at La Farinera Sant Lluís, a former flour mill surrounded by gardens, trees, and open countryside. The day began with relaxed getting-ready moments shared with close family and friends, setting a calm and joyful tone for the day ahead. As the celebration moved outdoors, the venue’s brick tower, lake, and expansive grounds provided a simple, elegant backdrop for a heartfelt ceremony.
The ceremony took place by the lake, with the water and surrounding trees creating a calm, open setting. The altar was designed low and organic, framed with floral arrangements in warm, natural tones that blended seamlessly into the landscape. Wooden benches faced the water, allowing guests to take in the views as the bridal party made their entrance, with La Farinera’s iconic mill rising quietly in the background. As Julia walked in, accompanied by her father, the combination of the lake, the florals, and the historic brick building created a moment that felt both intimate and grounded in the place. Simple, thoughtful, and well balanced, the ceremony setting highlighted the beauty of the surroundings while keeping the focus on the couple.
Following the ceremony, guests moved into the gardens for cocktail hour, where a series of food stations were spread across the lawn. Each station was marked with handcrafted signs made from textured paper with soft, torn edges and minimal typography, finished with a sand-dipped detail along the bottom that added an organic touch. Nearby, the seating plan was displayed on a long table dressed in linen. Framed on both sides by sculptural floral arrangements featuring sunflowers, seed heads, and seasonal textures that echoed the natural palette of the day. Individual handmade tiles were laid out across the table, each one bearing a guest’s name, with the table number subtly marked in the corner, turning a practical element into a thoughtful design detail. Guests moved easily between the seating plan, the food stations, and shaded gathering spots under the trees, creating a relaxed and social atmosphere as the celebration continued.
As evening fell, guests were invited to take their seats at long banquet tables arranged on the lawn, creating a dining space framed by trees and soft lighting. The tables were dressed in natural linen and lined with warm wooden chairs, giving the setting an effortless and warm feel. Low, sculptural centerpieces ran along the tables, combining sunflowers, seed heads, seasonal greenery, and clusters of potatoes arranged directly on the linen, adding a playful, organic touch. At each place setting, fringe-edged napkins were paired with name cards and menus that followed the same handcrafted style seen during the aperitif, finished with subtle sand-dipped detailing. At the center of the layout, a small stage was placed between the tables, where a live guitarist played throughout the dinner, adding a gentle, atmospheric layer to the experience. As the light faded and music carried across the lawn, the setting felt calm and inviting, designed for a long evening of shared food, conversation, and celebration under the open sky.
As night fell, the celebration moved to the front of the house, where the evening transitioned into the first dance and the start of the disco. The open-air dance floor was framed by the façade of La Farinera, with music and lights carrying out across the lawn. As the night unfolded, patterned lights were projected into the surrounding trees, creating shifting textures and soft shadows. The effect was immersive and playful, transforming the garden into a lively, glowing backdrop and bringing the celebration to a joyful close under the night sky.
